Holocaust related

What was the fate of the Jews of this city during the Holocaust?

In June 1941, Jews from neighboring villages and small towns (Drăguşeni, Cristeşti, Călugăreni, and Hangu) were forcedly moved to Târgu Neamț. Most of them did forced labor.

How many emigrated? Majority of the young population, especially to Israel.

How many live there today? In 1992, just 34 Jews lived there; and in 2004 there were 30, in 2010, just 15 (5 men).
